Saraighat Bridge Completes Rs 7-Crore Rehabilitation for Safer Travel
The Saraighat Bridge is an important bridge over the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati.

Northeast Frontier Railway completed major rehabilitation work on Guwahati’s Saraighat Bridge at a cost of around Rs 7 crore.
The work began on July 13 and addressed structural deterioration, damaged steel members, cracks, concrete cavities and potholes.
Eight damaged expansion joints were dismantled and repaired, while distressed road-deck concrete was removed and recast.
Underlying steel components and damaged deck sections were strengthened and restored with new concreting and adequate curing.
Commissioned in 1962, the bridge connects Assam’s northern and southern Brahmaputra banks and links the Northeast with the rest of India.
