Study: Women With Endometriosis Face 46% Higher Diabetes Risk

A new study looked at almost three million women over many years.

Some of these women have a health problem called endometriosis, which can cause bad belly pain and painful periods.

The study found that women with endometriosis are 46% more likely to get type 2 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is a disease where the body has trouble controlling sugar in the blood.

The researchers found that the risk was especially high for younger women and women who were not overweight.

Doctors think swelling inside the body from endometriosis might be one reason for this higher risk.

The results were printed in a science magazine called Diabetologia.

Scientists say more studies are needed to understand exactly why this happens.

They hope this information will help doctors check women with endometriosis for diabetes earlier.
