Gyan Bharatam Mission Launched to Preserve Manuscripts
The Indian government started a project called Gyan Bharatam Mission to save and share old writings called manuscripts.
They plan to find, protect, and copy over a crore of these manuscripts, like an older version of the Archaeological Survey of India.
The government will use AI and digital tools to make these manuscripts easy to find and read online.
The goal is to share India's heritage with the world, and also encourage young people to get involved.
This is being done through a new challenge called Gyan-Setu.
The Gyan Bharatam Mission aims to preserve and digitize over one crore Indian manuscripts.
The mission was launched at the Gyan Bharatam International Conference in New Delhi.
It replaces the existing National Manuscripts Mission launched in 2003.
The mission will create a national digital repository for global accessibility.
The government is allocating Rs 400 crore to this project to safeguard and expand access to the country’s manuscripts.
