DMK Agrees to Support NDA's Delimitation Bill
The DMK, a political party in India led by MK Stalin, has agreed to support the NDA's Delimitation Bill.
This bill aims to increase the number of seats in the Lok Sabha (India's lower house of Parliament) from 543 to 850 and implement a 33% reservation for women.
The NDA, which is currently short of the votes needed to pass the bill, needs the support of the DMK's 22 MPs to reach the required two-thirds majority.
The DMK's decision comes after a breakdown in its relationship with the Congress and a softening of its stance due to reports that the NDA's new proposal may include a uniform 50% increase in Lok Sabha seats across all states.
Southern states, including Tamil Nadu, have concerns that the bill may dilute their political voice.
