Japan Two-Year Bond Auction Shows Strong Demand
Japan sold a bunch of two-year bonds, and lots of people wanted to buy them, the most since last October.
This caused the price of the bonds to go up slightly, and the interest rates (yields) on those bonds went down a little.
The sale's success shows that investors like the rates offered.
The Bank of Japan (BOJ) has a meeting soon, and there's a good chance they might raise interest rates before the year is over.
Japan's two-year government bond auction saw strongest demand since October.
The average bid-to-cover ratio was 4.47, indicating strong demand.
Two-year bond yields fell 2 basis points to 0.82% after the auction.
The auction comes before the Bank of Japan's (BOJ) policy meeting.
Traders are pricing in a 75% chance of a BOJ rate hike by year-end.
