Odisha Inducts All-Woman Forest Squad
The Odisha government has created a special team of five women to protect the Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary.
This is the first time such a team has been formed in the sanctuary.
The women come from nearby villages and have spent their lives around the forest, so they know a lot about the animals and the problems they face.
They have trained for three months to get ready for their jobs, and two of them are even expert swimmers.
The team will start working on January 1.
The women are excited to help protect the forest and are proud to be able to support their families.
The government hopes that having a women's team will inspire more people in the villages to care for the sanctuary.
Odisha government has inducted a five-member all-woman squad for forest and animal protection in Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary.
Four of the five members are from tribal families living near the sanctuary.
The women have undergone three months of physical training, including cruise diving, and two are expert swimmers.
The squad will start working in the sanctuary from January 1, 2025.
