IITs Urged to Focus on Strengths
Subhasis Chaudhuri, who used to be the director of IIT Bombay and is now the head of BSE Ltd, spoke at a big meeting called the PanIIT Tech4 Bharat Summit in Chennai.
He said that the IITs, which are very famous schools for science and technology in India, are trying to do too many things at once.
This is making them less effective.
He suggested that the IITs should focus on the things they are really good at and that are most important.
He also said that the IITs need to include more people and help with the development of India.
He asked the alumni, or former students, of the IITs to think about how they can help the schools more.
Subhasis Chaudhuri, former IIT Bombay Director and current BSE Chairperson, addressed the PanIIT Tech4 Bharat Summit 2026 in Chennai.
He highlighted the issue of 'bandwidth bleeding' in the IIT system, where institutes are over-extending their resources.

He emphasized the need for inclusivity and the involvement of more people in the development of India.
