Cipla Launches Inhaled Insulin Afrezza
Cipla has launched a new product called Afrezza, which is a powder that you can inhale to get insulin into your body.
This is different from the usual insulin shots that people with diabetes have to take.
The powder starts working very quickly, in about 12 minutes, which is similar to how your body naturally makes insulin.
You use a special inhaler to take the powder, and it comes in single-use cartridges.
This new way of taking insulin might be easier for some people, especially those who don't like needles.
However, it's not good for people who have problems with their lungs, like asthma or COPD.
Cipla thinks this new product will help people stick to their insulin treatment better and control their blood sugar more quickly.
The company also plans to educate people about using insulin correctly through a nationwide awareness program.
Cipla has launched Afrezza, an inhaled insulin powder, about a year after regulatory approval in India.
Afrezza is a rapid-acting, needle-free alternative to injectable insulin therapy, dissolving quickly upon inhalation.
The product is available in single-use cartridges and delivered through an inhaler device, starting with the largest meal of the day.
Afrezza is not recommended for individuals with pulmonary concerns such as asthma or COPD.
Cipla aims to improve adherence to insulin therapy and enable quicker glycemic control for adults with type-1 and type-2 diabetes.
