India Meets Peak Power Demand with Zero Shortage, Boosts Capacity
India's power sector reached a new milestone by meeting a high energy demand without any shortage.
The country's ability to generate power has nearly doubled in the last decade.
They're also investing in battery storage to boost renewable energy.
To help with this, the government is also offering financial help and waiving certain charges for energy storage projects.
Furthermore, they're upgrading their power grid with new high-voltage lines to ensure reliable power supply and improve the financial health of power networks.
India achieved a peak power demand of 241 GW with zero shortage.
The total installed capacity is almost double since 2014, reaching 472.5 GW.
A Viability Gap Funding scheme for 30 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is approved.
ISTS charges waiver extended until June 30, 2028 for storage projects.
An Ultra High Voltage Alternating Current (UHV AC) Transmission System is planned to transform the grid.
