Delhi Minister Orders Unified Drain Maintenance Across Agencies
Delhi has many drains managed by different government agencies.
Sometimes those agencies disagree about who should repair or clean them.
Minister Parvesh Verma said this cannot delay the work.
He told officials to cooperate and finish tasks on time.
Officials may be held responsible if problems are found.
Workers are cleaning drains across the city with modern machines.
Better drains can reduce dirty water and flooding during rain.
New concrete box drains are also being built to carry more water and last longer.
Parvesh Verma told Delhi agencies to take ownership of drain maintenance and avoid jurisdictional disputes.
Officials were instructed to work within defined timelines, with accountability promised for lapses.
Drain cleaning is being conducted across the capital using advanced technology and high-tech machinery.
The work is intended to improve sanitation, reduce water accumulation during rains and help clean the Yamuna.
