Smart TV Buying Guide: Five 55-Inch Models Compared
This guide helps people choose a smart TV for their living room.
It compares five TVs with 55-inch screens.
The LG is good for clear colours and easy-to-use smart features.
The Xiaomi offers bright colours, many apps and fairly strong sound.
The Vu has the loudest built-in audio, so it may not need a soundbar right away.
The Lumio offers generous storage and loud sound at a competitive price.
The Philips has the most advanced screen and a faster refresh rate for gaming and movies.
Before buying, shoppers should consider room size, viewing distance, picture quality, sound, smart features and available connections.
The guide compares five 55-inch 4K smart TVs from LG, Xiaomi, Vu, Lumio and Philips.
The LG NU87 emphasizes accurate colours, upscaling and a polished webOS experience, but has a 60Hz panel and 20W speakers.
The Xiaomi FX Pro offers vibrant QLED visuals, Fire TV and 34W audio, though it lacks a native 120Hz panel.
The Vu Vibe DV provides 88W sound, Dolby Vision and gaming features, while its 60Hz display and average black levels are limitations.
The Philips MLED610 has a 120Hz QD-Mini LED panel and local dimming, making it the strongest display-focused option but potentially slower in software.
