Viking Ship Owners Dispute Repair Costs with Universal
The owners of a Viking longship replica used in the film The Odyssey are upset because they say the movie studio, Universal Pictures, didn't pay for the repairs they had to make to the ship.
The owners, a group called Vikingaleden, say they only asked for the cost of the materials, which was USD 6,000.
They feel like they were forgotten.
But Universal says they did pay all the bills, including the repairs.
The ship has been fixed and is back in use, but the owners are still unhappy about the whole situation.
The film The Odyssey, which stars Matt Damon and others, has been doing well in theaters, making over USD 382 million in its first week.
The Vikingaleden association loaned their Viking longship replica, Glad av Gillberga, to the production of The Odyssey.
The association claims Universal Pictures did not reimburse them for the material costs of repairing the ship.
Universal Pictures denies the claim, stating all invoices, including repairs, were paid in full.
The dispute has soured the association's experience of working with the production.
The Odyssey has grossed USD 382 million globally in its first week.
