Zepto Rejigs Checkout to Counter Dark Patterns
Zepto, a quick commerce app, is changing how its checkout process works to make things fairer for its users.
They're doing this because they've been told to by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), who said some of Zepto's practices were like "dark patterns" – tricky things that make customers spend more money than they want to.
The first big change is that free delivery will automatically be applied to orders over ₹99, instead of users having to do it manually.
This change is because before, customers had to take an extra step.
More changes are planned to fix other problems.
