Centre forms expert panel to audit NEET-PG admission system

Every year, many doctors in India take a big test called NEET-PG to get admission into special training programmes for postgraduate medicine.

The test helps decide who gets to become a specialist doctor.

This year, the people in charge lowered the passing score a lot, which made many more doctors eligible.

Some people thought this was unfair and asked the Supreme Court, the highest court of India, to look into it.

The Supreme Court is like a referee that makes sure the rules are followed fairly.

The government told the court that it has set up a special group of experts to check how NEET-PG admissions work.

This group is led by the Director General of Health Services and has twelve members.

The group will listen to everyone involved and give its report in eight weeks.

The court will hear the matter again after the report is submitted.

Supporters of the change say it fills empty training seats, while critics worry it could lower the quality of doctors.
