J&K LG Terminates 103 Firemen Over Fraudulent Recruitment
The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has fired 103 firemen because they got their jobs through cheating.
An investigation found that these firemen had manipulated their exam results and official records to get hired.
The government said that these appointments were illegal from the start and that the firemen do not deserve the usual protections given to government employees.
The decision was based on findings by an inquiry committee and the Anti-Corruption Bureau, which showed that the recruitment process was not fair.
The government believes that keeping these firemen would be unfair and would damage public trust in the hiring process.
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha terminated the services of 103 firemen after an inquiry and ACB investigation found their recruitment to be fraudulent.
The inquiry committee and ACB found evidence of paper leakage, manipulation of results, and tampering with OMR sheets and merit lists.
The appointments were declared illegal and void ab initio, meaning they were invalid from the beginning.
The government cited Supreme Court and High Court judgments to justify the termination, stating that constitutional protections do not apply to illegal appointments.
Out of 106 identified illegal appointees, the appointments of three candidates had already been cancelled earlier for not meeting formalities.
