China Detects First Human H1N2v Swine Flu Case

China found a rare H1N2v swine flu infection in a child.

Investigators tested people, animals, and environmental samples.

They found influenza A in samples from a deceased pig.

This made the pig a possible source of the infection.

However, scientists could not prove exactly how the virus reached the child.

The child had 30 close contacts.

All of those contacts tested negative and did not develop flu-like symptoms while being watched.

The investigation found no evidence that the virus was spreading continuously between people.
