Kotak Mahindra Bank Reports 47.5% Profit Drop in Q1 FY26
Kotak Mahindra Bank's profit went down by almost half this past quarter.
This is because they made a big profit last year from selling part of their insurance business, so this year looked less good.
They also put aside more money to cover possible loan losses, which further reduced profits.
Even though they earned more from the interest on loans, the overall profit was still lower compared to the previous year.
Kotak Mahindra Bank's Q1 FY26 net profit decreased by 47.5% to ₹3,282 crore.
The profit decline was due to a one-time gain from a prior year's insurance stake sale and increased provisions.
Net interest income increased 6% to ₹7,259 crore.
Provisions and contingencies increased significantly by 109% to ₹1,208 crore.
GNPAs rose to 1.48% of gross advances as of June-end 2025.
