Transformers & Rectifiers Shares Surge 10% After World Bank Lifts Debarment
Imagine a company that makes big electrical parts called transformers.
This company, TRIL, was told by the World Bank that it couldn't work on projects for a few years because of a problem with a past job in Nigeria.
This made their company's value go down.
But, TRIL told the World Bank they didn't do anything wrong.
Now, the World Bank has taken TRIL off the 'can't work' list.
They also gave TRIL more time, until 2026, to explain everything about the old job.
Because of this good news, the company's stock price went up a lot!
Transformers & Rectifiers Ltd. (TRIL) shares rose 10% to Rs 318.2 on Friday.
The World Bank has removed TRIL from its list of debarred firms.
An extension has been granted for TRIL to submit its explanation in an ongoing sanctions case, with a new deadline of January 12, 2026.
TRIL was previously debarred for four years over an alleged bribery case related to a $24.74 million Nigerian power project.
The company maintains that the findings against it are not conclusive and that it acted in good faith and in compliance with all applicable laws.
