Shiv Sena(UBT) Criticizes Government Over Bank Loan Write-Offs
The Shiv Sena(UBT) has criticized the central government for writing off huge amounts of bad loans taken by big corporate defaulters.
They say the government is not being fair because it is very strict with poor and middle-class people who take small loans.
The government says writing off loans is a normal accounting practice, but the Shiv Sena(UBT) thinks it's unfair and wants the names of the big defaulters to be made public.
They also think the government is protecting these big defaulters because they might be donors to the ruling party.
Public sector banks have written off Rs 7.75 lakh crore in bad loans across 1,249 accounts between FY 2014-15 and FY 2025-26.
Only Rs 3.10 lakh crore has been recovered from these bad loans.
Shiv Sena(UBT) accuses the government of patronizing big corporate defaulters and shielding them from public scrutiny.
The government defends loan write-offs as standard technical accounting for non-recoverable debts.
Shiv Sena(UBT) demands public disclosure of the names of top corporate defaulters, citing unfair treatment of smaller borrowers.
