Purple Fair Celebrates Disability Empowerment in Kolkata

On Wednesday, a special event called the Purple Fair was held in Kolkata to celebrate the talents and skills of people with disabilities.

The fair was organized by the Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys’ Academy and the National Academy for Direct Taxes.

The theme of the fair was 'All Power is Within You,' which means that everyone has the strength and abilities inside themselves.

People with different kinds of disabilities, like visual impairment, Down syndrome, and autism, participated in various activities such as cultural performances, exhibitions, workshops, and sports like swimming and cricket.

The fair aimed to show that people with disabilities should be given opportunities, not just sympathy.

It also highlighted the importance of inclusion, which means making sure everyone is part of society and has equal access to opportunities.

Another event in the city discussed making inclusion a reality and handed out wheelchairs to help with mobility.
