Indore Plans Traffic Overhaul With Flyovers And 1,500 Buses

Indore wants to make its roads less crowded and safer.

The plan will happen in three stages.

During the first year, officials will widen some road turns and remove obstacles from important roads.

They will also control parking, use more electronic fines and move some freight activity to nighttime.

Over the next one to three years, the city may build more than 25 flyovers.

It also plans to increase the number of city buses from about 350 to 1,500.

Some intercity buses, markets and loading areas may be moved away from the busiest parts of the city.

In the longer term, buses, metro and suburban rail are meant to work together.
