Canada Increases Off-Campus Work Hours for International Students
Canada is making it easier for students from other countries who are studying there to work.
Before, they could only work 20 hours each week when they weren't on campus.
Now, starting November 8, 2024, they can work 24 hours each week off campus.
This means they can earn a bit more money while they go to school.
However, they can still only work full-time when school is on a break.
Canada is also planning to accept fewer international students in the coming years, with a big cut planned for 2026-2028.
International students in Canada can now work up to 24 hours per week off-campus.
This change is effective from November 8, 2024, and removes the need for a work permit for this duration.
Students are permitted to work full-time during scheduled academic breaks.
Canada plans to significantly reduce the intake of foreign students starting in 2026-2028.
The new plan targets 155,000 new student arrivals, a 49% decrease from the previous year's target.
