Delhi Airport to Cancel Flights During Runway Upgrade
Delhi's main airport is upgrading a runway, which means some flights will be canceled from mid-June to mid-September.
This is to install a new system that helps planes land safely in foggy weather.
Around 7.5% of flights will be affected, but airlines were told ahead of time to change schedules and avoid big problems.
The upgrade was delayed earlier this year because of unexpected changes in wind patterns, which caused disruption.
Delhi Airport will cancel about 114 daily flights between June 15 and September 15.
A runway upgrade, including the installation of an instrument landing system, is the reason for the cancellations.
The upgrade aims to enhance operations in low-visibility conditions like fog.
Airlines have been informed in advance to reschedule flights and reduce disruption.
The project was postponed from April-May due to unfavorable weather conditions and will now run from June to September.
