Tamil Nadu teacher turns government school classrooms into train coaches

In Tamil Nadu, India, there is a small government school that used to have very few students — only about 70.

A teacher named Balamurugan wanted to make it a wonderful place for children.

He and his students planted many trees, made seed balls, and built a big library with thousands of books.

After the COVID pandemic, when students returned to school, they found their classrooms painted to look like colourful train coaches.

The teacher paid most of the cost for the makeover himself, and parents helped too.

Children at the school also learn traditional folk dances and music, and they write their own poems and stories.

One student's article was even published in a magazine read by many children.

Because families saw how nice the school had become, more parents started sending their children there.

Now the school has more than 200 students, and the children proudly say they are lucky to study there.
