Centre Orders Cadre Review to Reduce IPS Deputation in CAPFs
The Indian government has asked all six central armed police forces to review their officers' careers.
This is to reduce the number of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in senior roles and give more opportunities to CAPF officers.
The Supreme Court had earlier ruled that CAPF officers should get better career benefits.
The government now has to follow this ruling and reduce the number of IPS officers in these forces over two years.
This will help CAPF officers have better careers and more decision-making roles.
Union Home Ministry orders cadre review of Group A CAPF officers to reduce IPS deputation at senior levels.
Supreme Court ruled in May that Group A CAPF officers should be recognized as Organised Services.
Proposals from CAPFs must be submitted within a month for examination.
IPS deputation in senior administrative grade (SAG) or IG rank to be progressively reduced within two years.
CAPF officers expect the review to create more senior roles and boost morale.
