CBI Takes Over Mira Road Woman's Suicide Dowry Death Probe
A young woman who got married in Mira Road passed away, and her family says she was hurt by her husband and his family.
Her father says he gave a lot of money and jewellery for the wedding, but the groom's family told lies about his job.
The husband is said to have asked for more things, like a flat, and to have hurt his wife when he was drinking.
Her family also says she was forced to end her pregnancy against her wishes.
Sadly, in February 2023, the woman died by suicide.
A court called the Bombay High Court asked a special team called the CBI to look into what happened.
The CBI is now taking over the case from the local police.
The woman's father says he saw marks on her face and neck, so he believes she was hurt.
Everyone is now waiting to see what the investigation finds.
The CBI has taken over the investigation into the alleged suicide of a 26-year-old Mira Road housewife following a Bombay High Court order dated April 16, 2026.
The probe was transferred from the Kashimira Police Station in Thane, where the case was originally registered as an alleged dowry death involving the victim's husband and in-laws.
The complainant, the victim's father, alleged he gave cash of Rs 15.51 lakh and jewellery worth approximately Rs 17.35 lakh during the engagement and marriage ceremonies.
The complaint alleged the groom's family falsely represented him as a civil engineer with property and a business, and that the husband demanded a flat and repeatedly abused and assaulted his wife, including allegedly forcing termination of her pregnancy in November 2022.
The victim allegedly died by suicide on February 24, 2023, after which her father noticed visible injury marks on her cheek and neck at the hospital.
