Modi government promotes alternatives to government jobs, Singh says
Jitendra Singh said young people should consider businesses and other careers, not only government jobs.
He said the government has created programs to help them start businesses.
These include Startup India, Stand-Up India and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.
Singh said India had about 350 startups in 2014 and around 2.40 lakh recognised startups today.
He said India is now third in the world for recognised startups.
He also said the government has provided loans and other support through several schemes.
Singh described improvements in sports, education, research and innovation opportunities.
He asked young people to use these opportunities to help build India by 2047.
Union minister Jitendra Singh said the government is encouraging youth to pursue entrepreneurship and other livelihoods instead of only seeking government jobs.
Singh attributed Startup India and Stand-Up India to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to expand opportunities for young people.
He said India’s recognised startups increased from about 350 in 2014 to around 2.40 lakh, placing the country third globally.
Singh cited the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, PM SVANidhi and PM Vishwakarma as schemes supporting independent livelihoods.
He said about Rs 38 lakh crore had been disbursed under the Mudra scheme, with roughly 60 per cent going to women.
