PMGSY-IV to Connect 25,000 Rural Habitations
The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is a big project started by the Indian government to build roads in rural areas.
It has been going on for 25 years and has already built a lot of roads.
The first part connected many villages to markets and schools.
The second part made the existing roads better.
The third part is upgrading important roads.
Now, the fourth part, PMGSY-IV, aims to connect 25,000 more villages that still don't have good roads.
This will help people travel easily, go to school, and sell their farm products.
The government has set aside a lot of money for this project.
PMGSY aims to provide all-weather road connectivity to 25,000 unconnected rural habitations under Phase IV.
The programme has sanctioned 8,25,114 km of rural roads, with 7,87,520 km completed (95% progress).
Phase III targets 1,25,000 km of Through Routes and Major Rural Links, with 1,01,623 km (83%) completed.
PMGSY-IV will focus on habitations with populations of 500+ in plain areas and 250+ in special category areas.
The government has allocated Rs 19,000 crore for the programme in the financial year 2025-26.
