Indian Steelmakers to Study Carbon Capture Hubs
Big steel companies in India, such as AM/NS India and JSW Steel, are working with others around the world to figure out how to catch carbon dioxide (CO₂) from making steel.
They will be studying how to collect CO₂, move it, and store it safely.
The study will examine the technical feasibility, costs, and schedules.
Partners include Hyundai Steel, BHP, Chevron, and Mitsui.
JSW Steel hopes to cut its emissions a lot by 2030.
The study, which will take until the end of 2026, will help the steel industry reduce its carbon footprint and be more environmentally friendly.
AM/NS India and JSW Steel are part of a global consortium.
The consortium will study Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) hubs.
Partners include Hyundai Steel, BHP, Chevron, and Mitsui.
The study aims to assess CO₂ capture, transport, and storage solutions.
JSW Steel aims to cut CO₂ intensity by 42% by 2030.
