Delhi's Winter Action Plan: 250 New Shelters and Tech for Homeless
The Delhi government is opening 250 new temporary places for people who don't have homes to sleep in during the cold winter.
These new shelters will be in different parts of the city and can hold about 2,500 people.
They will work alongside the almost 200 other permanent shelters already available.
Special vans with GPS will drive around at night to find homeless people and take them to these safe places.
The government is also using apps to help report and track people, and to check on the shelters.
This is all part of a plan to make sure everyone has a safe and warm place to sleep when it gets very cold.
Delhi government is establishing 250 new temporary shelter homes for the homeless this winter.
These new shelters will operate from November 15 to March 15 as part of a Winter Action Plan.
The new shelters, located at 120 sites, are expected to accommodate approximately 2,500 people.
Rescue teams with GPS-enabled vans will operate nightly to transport homeless individuals to shelters.
Technology, including mobile apps and GPS tracking, is being used to manage and improve shelter operations and rescue services.
