Ujjain: Hundreds of Girls Protest Sarafa School Relocation to Daudkhedi

Many girl students at a government school in the city of Ujjain, India, were very upset.

The government decided to move their school to a village called Daudkhedi, which is about 8 kilometers away.

This is happening because the city is getting ready for a big festival called Simhastha Mahaparv in 2028.

Nearly 2,500 students from six schools may have to travel very far to reach the new place.

Some students would need to travel 25-30 kilometers and change buses many times.

The girls said they cannot afford such long travel because they come from poor families.

They also felt the new location was unsafe because a liquor shop is nearby.

More than 300 girls protested at the government office, and two girls fainted and had to go to the hospital.

The adults in charge listened but said a special committee will make the final decision.

The students hope their school will be allowed to stay where it is.
