Washington, Tehran Pursue Mediated Talks as War Enters Seventh Month

The United States and Iran have been fighting a war for seven months.

Their leaders are still not speaking to each other directly.

Instead, other people are carrying messages between them.

Officials from both countries spoke with these mediators on Monday.

The talks are meant to find a way to stop the war.

President Donald Trump said he rejected Iran’s newest peace plan.

However, the two sides are still discussing another possible plan.

That plan is expected to be based on a proposal Iran presented at the United Nations in New York.
