Tsering Says US Support for Tibet Remains Strong

Penpa Tsering is a political leader representing Tibetans living outside Tibet.

He said the United States still supports Tibetan issues.

A meeting that people expected between a US ambassador and the Dalai Lama in Ladakh did not happen.

Tsering said he did not know why.

The ambassador had met the Dalai Lama in New Delhi earlier in the year.

Tsering also said some aid for Tibetan programmes was cut, but some money was later restored.

He said a recent meeting between the US and Chinese presidents did not bring much concrete change for Tibet.

He added that India has been an important home for the Tibetan exile administration.
