India's 2027 Census: Digital Data Collection to Begin
Imagine a giant survey of everyone in India!
This is the Census, happening in 2027.
Instead of using paper, the people doing the survey (enumerators) will use their own smartphones to collect information.
They'll use special apps that work in English and other languages.
This way, the data goes straight into the computer, making the information faster to get.
The survey will ask about homes, what's inside them, and who lives there.
People can even fill it out themselves!
Plus, every building will get a special tag to show where it is on a map.
This helps make sure the information is accurate and available quickly.
Enumerators will use their own smartphones and apps for the 2027 Census.
The Census will be fully digital, with data entered at the enumerator level.
Data collection will occur in two phases: houselisting and population enumeration.
Castes will be enumerated, and self-enumeration will be an option.
Geo-tagging of all buildings will be implemented for the first time.
