Climate Change Performance Index 2026 Released
The Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) 2026 was recently released at the UN COP30 Climate Summit.
This report shows how well countries are doing in fighting climate change.
The top three spots are empty because no country did well enough to get a very high rating.
Denmark is the highest-ranked country, followed by the UK and Morocco.
India dropped 13 places to the 23rd position.
The report also says India is one of the biggest producers of oil, gas, and coal.
Another report, the Climate Risk Index (CRI), shows that India is the 9th most affected country by climate-related disasters in the last 30 years.
This means India has faced a lot of extreme weather events, with 80,000 fatalities and $170 billion in economic losses.
The CCPI helps us understand which countries are doing well and which need to improve in their efforts to stop climate change.
No country achieved an overall very high rating, leaving the top three positions vacant in the CCPI 2026.
Denmark ranked highest with 80.52 points, followed by the UK (70.80) and Morocco (70.75).
India fell 13 places to the 23rd position with a score of 61.31, labeled as a medium performer.
China and the United States remain the world's largest emitters, ranked 54th and 65th respectively.
Saudi Arabia ranked lowest with 11.9 points, following Iran at 66th with 14.33 points.
