Karnataka Farmer Pays Record ₹8 Lakh for Sacred Coconut

A temple in Karnataka holds a special coconut auction every year.

The coconut stays at the shrine during the holy month of Shravana.

Priests and devotees perform prayers and rituals during that time.

People believe the coconut carries Lord Malingaraya’s blessings.

They also believe it can bring health, prosperity and good luck.

This year, sugarcane farmer Lakshmana Siddappa Kurani offered the highest bid.

He paid ₹8,00,001 for the coconut.

His payment became the highest auction price recorded at the shrine.
