Mamdani Wants to End NYC Kindergarten Gifted Programs, Drawing Criticism

A New York City mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani, wants to stop the gifted program for kindergarteners.

This means kids wouldn't be tested or put into special classes so early.

Some people, like former governor Andrew Cuomo, disagree.

They think parents want MORE gifted programs, not fewer.

Mamdani believes every child should get a good education early on.

Cuomo also has different views about charter schools and how much the mayor should control schools.
