India Faces 265 Million Cyberattack Attempts, 150 System Breaches
India’s digital world is growing fast, but so are the bad guys who try to break into computers.
A new report says that in 2025, hackers tried to attack more than 265 million times and found 369 million pieces of bad software.
During a military event called Operation Sindoor, almost 1.5 million attacks were launched, and about 150 of them actually broke into systems.
Power plants, phone networks, and even the President’s website were hit.
The report says India needs more people who know how to fight cyber attacks, better training, and a plan to deal with big cyber emergencies.
It also warns that a new privacy law is hard for many small companies to follow.
India recorded over 265 million cyberattack attempts and 369 million malware detections in 2025.
Operation Sindoor saw nearly 1.5 million attack attempts, with about 150 successful system compromises.
Critical infrastructure, especially the power sector, faced almost 200,000 intrusion attempts; telecom and government sites also targeted.
The report urges building a cyber‑resilient workforce of over one million professionals and establishing national crisis management and AI centres.
Implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 remains challenging for medium‑sized businesses and startups.
