Assam, Meghalaya Begin Erecting Border Pillars Along Hahim
Imagine two neighbors, Assam and Meghalaya, who have argued about where their yards (borders) are for a long time.
They decided to get along better.
They are now putting up markers (border pillars) to show where each state's land begins and ends.
These markers are being placed in areas where the neighbors have agreed on the boundary.
This is a big step toward ending their disagreements, and the people living there are happy about it.
Assam and Meghalaya have started installing border pillars in the Hahim area of Boko.
The pillar installation is part of an effort to resolve the decades-long boundary dispute.
The initiative follows a 'give-and-take' policy adopted in 2021 and an agreement in 2022.
Six border stretches were settled in the first phase, including Hahim.
Local residents have welcomed the erection of border pillars as a historic moment.
