Assam Police STF Honored with National Award for Operation Praghat
Police officers in Assam have received a big national award for doing a great job stopping a dangerous group.
This group, called a jihadi network, was trying to cause trouble in different parts of India, like Assam, West Bengal, and Kerala.
The police called their successful mission 'Operation Praghat'.
They managed to catch eight people from this group, including someone from another country who was trying to set up secret cells.
The police believe this group wanted to recruit young people, get weapons, and target certain organizations to create unrest.
This award shows that the police were very brave and smart in stopping this threat and keeping everyone safe.
Many police officers across India also received awards for their excellent work.
The Assam Police Special Task Force (STF) received the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak (KGDP) 2025 for 'Operation Praghat'.
Operation Praghat was a multi-state counter-terrorism mission that dismantled a jihadi network across Assam, West Bengal, and Kerala.
Eight suspects were arrested during the operation, including a Bangladeshi national identified as Md Sad Radi alias Md Shab Sheikh.
The network aimed to recruit local youth, procure arms, and target RSS and Hindu organizations to foment unrest.
