5.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Ladakh And Jammu And Kashmir
A big shake in the ground, called an earthquake, happened on Monday.
It was measured as 5.7 on a scale that tells us how strong earthquakes are.
The strongest part of the shake was in a place called Leh in Ladakh.
People in Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir felt the shake, but it was not very strong.
No one got hurt, and nothing was broken.
This area has had big shakes before, like one in 2005 that hurt many people.
That one was much stronger, measured at 7.6, and it caused a lot of damage in Pakistan and India.
Many people lost their homes, and some even lost their lives.
But this recent shake was not as strong or as harmful.
An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale occurred on Monday with the epicenter in the Leh area of the Ladakh region.
The tremors were felt in varying degrees in Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.
No reports of casualties or property damage have been reported.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 171 km inside the Earth's crust.
