Ukrainian drone attack damages Novorossiysk grain terminals, halting work

At night, Ukraine sent hundreds of flying machines called drones to a big Russian port city called Novorossiysk on the Black Sea.

The drones hit buildings where grain is loaded onto ships, and grain is what we use to make bread and cereal.

Because of the damage, the port had to stop loading grain so workers could check what was broken.

Russia is the biggest wheat exporter in the world, so this port matters for feeding people in other countries.

Sadly, at least two people died in the attack, including an eight-year-old child.

Ukraine's leader, Zelenskyy, said they were also targeting a Russian naval base there, where Russia keeps many of its Black Sea warships after Ukraine attacked them in Crimea.

The port also handles oil, and a newspaper said Ukraine agreed to stop attacking tankers from a nearby oil pipeline after the United States asked.

Because of the damage, wheat prices went up, and some people worry that if the port stays closed, people in Africa and the Middle East might go hungry.

For now, everyone is waiting to see how much damage was done and when the port can work again.
