Amritsar Launched as Second Hub & Spoke Airport
The Union Civil Aviation Ministry (MoCA) has launched a new 'Hub and Spoke' flight model at Amritsar Airport.
This model allows passengers to complete all check-in, immigration, and customs formalities at Amritsar before departure, making international travel more convenient.
Passengers can then transfer seamlessly at Delhi Airport to their onward international flights without undergoing immigration or customs formalities again.
This initiative is expected to ease the load on Delhi's international airports and make travel easier, especially for elderly and women passengers.
The model is also projected to generate significant economic benefits, including job creation and increased tourism, trade, and investment.
Amritsar is the second airport in the country to be integrated into this framework after Varanasi.
MoCA launched 'Hub and Spoke' International Flight Operations at Amritsar Airport.
Passengers can complete all formalities at Amritsar before departure.
Delhi Airport serves as the hub for 20 international destinations.
The model is expected to benefit nearly 250 passengers per day from Amritsar.
The initiative aims to generate economic benefits, including job creation and increased tourism.
