This is because her Imagination Library sends free books to young children.

The program began in 1995 to honor her father, who could not read.

Children under five can receive one book every month if they live in a participating area.

The program has delivered more than 332 million books.

Parton also wrote children’s books, memoirs, and other books.

She said she would rather be remembered for helping children read than only for her music.
