Punjab Scheme Covers 50-Day NICU Care for 700g Newborn
A baby born very early, only 700 grams, needed a lot of help in a special hospital room.
The Punjab government paid all the money so the parents didn’t have to worry.
The baby stayed for 50 days and got breathing machines, special food, and doctors watching her all the time.
The program is called Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana and it has helped many babies in the last seven months.
The parents were very thankful because they could focus on the baby’s health instead of money.
The government says this helps families when babies are sick or born early.
The doctors say the baby got better because of the care and the money covered by the scheme.
A 700‑gram premature baby received ₹3 lakh cashless treatment under Punjab’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana.
The infant spent 50 days in a neonatal intensive care unit in Nawanshahr district, receiving ventilator support, nutrition and monitoring.
The scheme covered all costs, allowing parents to focus on recovery rather than fundraising.
Punjab’s health department reported 4,404 neonatal cases covered in the past seven months, with ₹6.28 crore in claims for two main packages.
The program also treats high‑risk pregnancies, including 70 premature deliveries and 45 severe anaemia cases.
