Surat Weaving Factories Plan Two Weekly Shutdown Days

Surat Weaving Factories Plan Two Weekly Shutdown Days

Factories in Surat make cloth using polyester yarn.

The Iran-US-Israel conflict has affected crude oil supplies.

This has made polyester yarn much more expensive.

However, buyers are not offering enough money for the finished grey cloth.

Because of this, factories at the Unn Industrial Estate plan to stop work for two days each week.

The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry asked the government for help.

The government removed customs duty on some important textile materials for a limited period.

Industry representatives may ask for this tax relief to continue.
