Vijayawada civic body targets vacant plots to curb monsoon diseases
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation is cleaning up the city to keep people healthy.
Rainy season is coming, and mosquitoes like to breed in dirty water.
Mosquitoes can spread diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya.
So the city's workers are cleaning empty plots of land.
Empty plots often have garbage, bushes, and pools of water.
These are perfect places for mosquitoes to lay eggs.
Workers used big machines called JCB excavators to help with the cleaning.
They also told the owners of the empty plots to keep them clean.
If owners don't clean their plots, they could get in trouble with the law.
The city also asked all citizens not to throw garbage in empty plots and to keep their surroundings clean.
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) launched a special sanitation drive targeting vacant plots across the city to prevent mosquito breeding.
The drive aims to prevent vector-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya by eliminating stagnant water.
Officials inspected vacant plots in all wards, removing accumulated garbage, construction debris, overgrown bushes and silt.
Notices were served to vacant plot owners directing them to keep properties clean, with warnings of legal action for negligence threatening public health.
The campaign deployed six JCB excavators, sanitation workers and public health personnel, alongside awareness drives urging residents not to dump waste in vacant plots.
