Nellore Court Denies Bail to Dairy Expert in Laddu Ghee Case
A court in Nellore, India, said no to a request for bail from a man named M. Vijayabhaskar Reddy.
He is accused of giving good reports to companies that supplied bad ghee (a type of clarified butter) for making laddus (a sweet) at a famous temple.
The court said no because they believe he took bribes and caused the temple to lose a lot of money.
The police are also investigating 12 more people, including some who work at the temple, for similar reasons.
Nellore ACB Court denied anticipatory bail to M. Vijayabhaskar Reddy, an external dairy expert, in the Tirumala laddu adulterated ghee case.
The court heard arguments from the SIT, which opposed the bail plea, alleging that Reddy issued favourable reports to ghee-supplying companies despite poor performance.
The SIT claimed Reddy received bribes in 2023 from Bhole Baba Company and Premier Company, leading to financial losses for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
The court accepted the prosecution's arguments and refused to grant anticipatory bail to Reddy.
The SIT has recently added 12 more accused in the case, including seven TTD employees and five external dairy experts.
