Sabrina Carpenter to Lead Musical Alice in Wonderland Film at Universal
Popular singer Sabrina Carpenter is going to star in a brand-new movie that is a musical version of the famous story 'Alice in Wonderland'.
This is a big deal because it's her first time being the main star in a movie made by a major studio like Universal Pictures.
Sabrina will not only act in the film but also help make it as a producer.
A filmmaker named Lorene Scafaria, who is known for other movies, will write and direct it.
Sabrina herself came up with the idea for this musical movie and shared it with Universal.
This story will be a fresh take on the classic tale with a lot of music.
It's interesting because she also had a similar idea with another company a few years ago that didn't happen.
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter will star in and co-produce a musical film adaptation inspired by 'Alice in Wonderland' for Universal Pictures.
Lorene Scafaria is attached to write and direct the untitled project.
Carpenter approached Universal with the concept in 2024, marking her first major studio feature film role.
This project is described as Carpenter's 'passion project' and will feature a strong musical component.
This is not the first attempt at a musical 'Alice in Wonderland' adaptation for Carpenter, as Netflix had previously acquired a similar project from her in 2020 that did not move forward.
