Supreme Court Refuses to Relax Ashish Mishra's Bail Conditions
An important court in India called the Supreme Court made a decision about a man named Ashish Mishra.
He is the main person accused in a very sad event called the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, which happened in a village in the state of Uttar Pradesh in 2021.
During a protest by farmers, eight people lost their lives.
While waiting for his trial, the court gave Ashish Mishra special rules, called bail conditions, that say where he can travel.
He asked the judges to make the rules easier so he could go to family parties, like his daughters' birthday celebrations.
The judges said no.
They said there was no reason to change the rules at this time.

The Supreme Court refused to further relax the bail conditions of Ashish Mishra, the prime accused in the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana dismissed his application, saying there was no ground to entertain the prayer at this stage.
Mishra's counsel said the existing travel restrictions prevented him from attending family functions, including his daughters' birthday celebrations.
Eight people, including four farmers, were killed on October 3, 2021, in Tikunia village during a farmers' protest over the now-repealed agricultural laws and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's visit.
Mishra, son of former Union minister Ajay Kumar Mishra, was granted bail in July 2024 with restrictions to Delhi or Lucknow; the terms were relaxed in May to allow Saturday visits to Lakhimpur Kheri, and he remains on trial.
